The Royal Trek Nepal

The Royal Trek in Nepal is named after Prince Charles, who, along with a group of 90 people, took this route in 1981, just before his wedding to Princess Diana.

This trek starts in Pokhara, a city known for its beautiful lake. The route goes through the Gandaki zone, which is home to many villages where the Gurung ethnic group lives.

The trek offers stunning views of rice fields on the hillsides and the magnificent Annapurna mountains. This includes Machapuchhre (fishtail) and Begnas Lake. Machapuchhre is considered sacred and has never been climbed. The Gurungs, who are known for their military service in the Nepalese, British, and Indian armies, usually live on steep slopes where they grow crops like maize, millet, and rice.

The way of life of the people living here has not changed for many generations. The Royal Trek is unique because it is less crowded than other treks in the region. This allows trekkers to have a closer connection with nature and the local culture. In addition to the cultural sites and mountain landscapes, there may also be chances to see a variety of wildlife and plants.

In areas where the environment is upper sub-alpine steppe, it is possible to see rare snow leopards and blue sheep. Other regions are home to protected bird species such as the multi-colored impeyan, kokla, and blood pheasant. The area is also rich in butterflies and other insects. With 100 varieties of orchids and the world's largest rhododendron forest, it is a paradise for those interested in botany.

?Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350 m/4,429 ft)

Upon arrival in Kathmandu our representative will pick you at the airport and escort you to the hotel. You can rest well at the hotel and also take a short tour of the city in the evening. There will be a welcome dinner at the hotel along with briefing about the trip by your guide.

Day 02 Kathmandu to Pokhara (822 m/2,696 ft)

Today you will be travelling from Kathmandu to Pokhara, there are options available either by road or by air. After reaching Pokhara you can check in at your hotel take rest and then travel around the city and lakes. 

Day 03 Pokhara to Kalikasthan (1,208 m/ 3,963 ft)

On the following day, a brief journey takes you to Vijayapur village, where taxis are readily available. From here, the real trek starts, navigating level paddy fields and ascending through Rakhigaon to Chautara. The route continues to Kalikasthan, passing through several Brahmin (ethnic group of people) settlements along the way. 

Day 04 Kalikasthan to Syaklung (1,000 m/ 3,280 ft)

The journey from Kalikasthan begins with a trek through a forested ridge, going through Thulokot before arriving at Mata Temple, where you can grab lunch at a local tea shop. As you walk through the villages, which are often given by kind-hearted travelers. Following this, the trail gently rises to Naudanda and subsequently to Shanklung.

Day 05 Syaklung to Chisopani (1,290 m/ 4,232 ft) 

From Shanklung, you will be rewarded with mountains such as Annapurna II, Himalchuli, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu. The path descends sharply to the southern side of the hill, where an ancient tree stands with a chautara - a stone platform.

Tea shops and a police checkpoint are present along the way. Subsequently, you will climb to Chisopani, where you will stay overnight. A temple is situated on a high mound above the village. This part of the trek offers the most spectacular views of the mountains.

Day 06 Chisopani to Majhikuna (750 m/2,460 ft)

From Chisopani, your journey will take you down a ridge via stone steps that lead to a valley. You'll cross through arable field before making the ultimate climb to the ridge that divides Begnas Tal and Rupa Tal. Your will reach majhikuna, a small settlement situated beside the Begnas lake. Here you can enjoy fishing and boating in the beautiful Begnas Lake.

Day 07 Return to Kathmandu (1350m/ 4,429 ft)

You will return to Kathmandu by a flight or by bus. The flight will be around 30minutes long and if you travel by the road, it will take around 6-7 hours of bus journey through the road that goes through hills, some fast-flowing rivers and cities.
